Friday Mix Tape: Random Greatness from The Mynabirds to WhoMadeWho

Apologies for not writing too much this week – I’ve started another freelance job to add to my others, I’m starting another project for anyone who reads/listens to anything of mine and will have more exciting, and incredibly random, news for you soon.

The theme for me this week has been: Random. So, the mix of music below should be considered rather random, but still great.

Shout Out Out OutNever The Same Way Twice

The Mynabirds – Let the Record Go

The MynabirdsNumbers Don’t Lie

The MaccabeesFeel To Follow (via ohmyrock)

Radiation CityEye of Yours (from their upcoming Cool Nightmare EP)

WhoMadeWhoInside World which I would describe as ear sex between Hercules + Love Affair, Pet Shop Boys & Wild Beasts

Old MonkSacred Birds

Slow CountryYes You Have

Redgrave is a band to get really excited about because they’re from Chicago and, from what I’m hearing so far, have that great hot & ugly sex-rock vibe

This song has my teenage angst written all over it. When I listen to it I feel like I’m Willow from Buffy watching an episode of Buffy.

Whispertown “Open the Other Eye” from her March 20th EP release Parralel

120 Days “Dahle Disco” Keeps The Inferno Burning

120 Days

120 Days‘ jam “Dahle Disco” kind of creeps up on you in the best of ways. Let’s say you’re sitting there working and wishing you could be watching old episodes of Roseanne instead. All of a sudden, without warning, you notice you’ve become a one-person Soul Train-line. That’s kind of what just happened to me.

Snoop Dogg, as Nemo Hoes, Shares Ramen Recipe of Epic Sodium Proportions

This shit is hilarious and apparently hits the web every #puffpuffpassTuesday. At the minute mark, he legit looks like he’s passing out as he is giving away his secret recipe.

p.s. I am never going to prison ever.

LP & Florence Welch Perform “Dog Days Are Over” Proceed to Amaze

LP

So…this is performance. I don’t want to build it up too much but I honestly don’t think I could – even if I started throwing hyperbole all over the place. I am just smitten.

Good Got!!! When the two of them do their little banshee back of the throat voice thing – it’s like they are reaching down my throat and tickling my tummy.

LP will be playing the SXSW festival so if you’re lucky enough to be there – I’d suggest not missing out on her shows.

Friday Afternoon Mix Tape ft: Hollis Brown, Emily Wells, Saint Saviour & More

cassette funky town

For your consideration, we’ve got tracks to stream and download and an entire hour-long mixtape to get you started this weekend.

Emily Wells “Passenger” (Kid Koala Remix)

Hollis Brown’s track, “Spoonful” is ridiculously good. Makes me want to drink some bourbon and get my feet stomping. Their  Nothing & The Famous No One EP Drops April 3

Saint Saviour Covers M83 “Midnight City”

Zambri “Places”

I love this Tune In Crew remix of Beyonce’s “End of Time”, it reminds me of El Debarge.

Here’s an hour-long mix  from Rush Hour Records in anticipation of their Nu Groove compilation album coming out next week.

The Jane Doze mashup, “Kids, Set Fire to Someone That I Used to Know” is pretty fucking great.

This last track will usher you into the weekend very happily. Mattie Safer ft. Ninjasonik “That Your Girl” (Skeet Skeet Remix Snippet). Love!
