Theresa Andersson “What Comes Next” (mp3)

New Orleans via Sweden Singer Theresa AnderssonWhile multi-instrumentalist, Theresa Andersson, was born in Sweden, the land of amazing pop artists, you can hear how much her current home, New Orleans, has gotten into her musical blood. “What Comes Next“, the first single from her upcoming album, Street Parade, starts with a drumming march and turns into a lovely mixture of folk, soul and indie-pop.

Look out for Street Parade to be released April 24th and if you’re in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, be on the lookout for the singer to make an enormous parade debut. Not only will she be performing with Krewe of Muses but she’s also working with Arthur Mintz, the creator of “the award-winning theater version of Fantastic Mr. Fox,” and will be led by a puppet-driven float with a forty-piece band backing her up.

Sweden’s Greatest Exports Are Pop Stars

This song and video combo couldn’t have come at a better time for me. Soso’s “Who’s Gonna Love Me” has a violently sad sex appeal and it was impossible to take my eyes off of the video.

Soso looks like the most beautiful combination of PJ Harvey, Lisa Origliasso, Amy Winehouse and Megan Fox. The song reminds me of Robyn mud wrestling with Lana Del Rey and I couldn’t be more in love if I tried.

Shearwater “Breaking The Yearlings”

I always forget how much I like Shearwater’s music. Thankfully, Sub Pop has brought it back to my attention and they’ve added “Breaking The Yearlings” to the beginning of their 2012 free download compilation. Stream below, download here.

Shearwater will be coming to Lincoln Hall with Sharon Van Etten (OMG!!!) for two dates in February. Here’s to hoping I can make both if not one of these nights.

Get Your Candles Ready “Menorah On Fire”

No Jewish holiday songs are ever fun enough to sing year-round so this spoof will have to do until Adam Sandler can do better.
