Your Weekend Twerk: Flosstradamus “Assquake”

I’ll admit this is a little weird but Flosstradamus‘s twerkin’ banger, “Assquake”, is getting me homesick for Chicago. I can picture myself staying out way past my bedtime, drinking Jameson & PBR at Berlin with my peeps, hearing “Assquake” drop and running to the floor to make my pancake ass quake.

Ane Brun, Nadastrom, De La Soul & More: Chicago Venue Menu May 21 – 27

Chicago Venue Menu May 21 through 27

After the gorgeous weekend we just had, I’m not even going to hate on the temperature drop and overcast skies today. I hope your weekends were filled with fun and you were able to get your grill on.

As per usual, we’ve got some awesome shows coming to our city and I’ll even be at one or two of them. Also, next weekend, May 26th, The L Stop (who I also write for) is celebrating their first anniversary and the party should be hella fun. We’ve even got Red Hot Annie, one of Chicago’s premiere burlesque dancers, who will be providing some entertainment for the evening. Get your tickets now and note that the price of admission (be it VIP or regular) includes a three hour open bar. Grab your tickets now!

Chicago’s own Bully in the Hallway are letting you name your own price for a download of their most recent album, Crooks and their Castles.

Gemma Ray opens for Ane Brun @ Lincoln Hall

I am so excited to be going to this show – Ane Brun is an incredible performer. Check out her cover of “Joga” during the 2010 Polaris Music Prize tribute to winner, Bjork:

Ambient Swedish Electronic Act, Korallreven, Making US Debut

KorallrevenThe Swedes are continuing their not-so-hostile takeover of the U.S. music scene with dreamy electro pop duo, Korallreven. Starting next week, the band will be playing their first shows in the U.S. in support of their beautifully ambient 2011 debut, An Album By Korallreven.

The good news: The band will be making a stop in Chicago on March 6th @ Lincoln Hall.

The bad news: Victoria Bergsman won’t be making a guest appearance at that particular show. If you haven’t heard her in the bands Taken By Trees or The Concretes, you should definitely give them a spin too.

Check out and download their ethereal song, “Sa Sa Samoa” (ft. Juliana Barwick) below and download the “For Real For Sure For You” remix of the song.

3/4 – New York, NY – Bowery Ballroom
3/5 – Washington DC – Black Cat
3/6 – Chicago, IL – Lincoln Hall
3/7 – San Francisco, CA – Independent*
3/8 – Los Angeles, CA – Echoplex*

*Guest appearance by Victoria Bergsman (who you can hear below)
