That’ll Do, Kate Boy, That’ll Do

Kate Boy Northern Lights

Pitchfork piqued my interest in Swedish electro-poppers, Kate Boy, with their comparison to The Knife, however, I actually hear more pop sensibility a la No Doubt in their song “Northern Lights”. I’m not hating on a thing though – I can and will happily get down to this jam.

Butterfly Boucher And Missy Higgins: “None The Wiser”

A couple months ago, right when I moved to NYC, I was offered a ticket to see Butterfly Boucher and Missy Higgins play a venue in Brooklyn. It was my first time experiencing that borough and I managed to make it to the venue with only a few instances of getting lost along the way.

Butterfly opened the show for Missy but each played instruments and sang back-up harmonies on each others’ sets and pretty much made every lesbian within earshot catch a case of the vapors. Those two are ridiculously hot and I don’t think it’s fair for them to have Aussie accents on top of the good looks and charm.

This is their performance of one of my favorite songs, “None The Wiser”, from Butterfly’s incredible 2012 self-titled release.

If you haven’t seen the adorable video they made of this song you should watch it mmmeow:

Gossip “Get A Job” Wankelmut Remix

It pained me to give Gossip’s last album Joyful Noise a bad review but in the end, I couldn’t polish that turd to make it shiny enough to enjoy. A certain remixer by the name of Wankelmut took the turd-polishing challenge and managed to make it sparkle! Well done, Wankel. You can’t see me but I’m giving you an 80’s movie slow clap of appreciation.

Heartsrevolution Aims For Literal Revolution

Heartsrevolution

I love these kids and their Electro-Pop(sicle) cart. Heartsrevolution is apparently sick of the crap they’ve seen in the music industry (I’m going to go out on a limb here and say they’re specifically referencing Madonna’s tragic MDNA album – but it’s possible the drug references are for something else entirely).

“This is more of a mission statement than a music video. After navigating the dark underbelly of the music industry and watching the rapid decline of human civilization… The lyrics/video speaks for itself. Revolution! (or) Run.” (via Noisey)

“If I was a dude you’d be sucking my dick. But I’m just a girl so all you see is tits – and a clit.” Preach. The band will be releasing a new album in 2013  but just so you’ve got something to play with over the holidays, they’ve released a free mixtape for your pleasure:
