Tricky Bringing The Sex To “Tribal Drums” (ft. Francesca Belmonte)

I’m not sure if Tricky is responsible for seducing me on his latest single, “Tribal Drums”, or if the kudos should go to Francesca Belmonte’s soft whisper-singing because it happens to be the musical equivalent to a come-hither look from the most gorgeous person in the room. DAMN! Shut the door and turn of the lights y’all.

Emeli Sande’s Cover of “Crazy in Love” for The Great Gatsby

ImageNot gonna lie – I think I might like Emeli Sandé‘s throwback cover version of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” more than I like the original. Props to Jay Z for including it given its super-status (although I’m assuming he and Bey will get hella royalties coming from five different directions anyway).

Beth Ditto at XL Bar

Last night, Beth Ditto brought her ferocious soul-punk voice to XL Bar in Hell’s Kitchen and while the set was a short one, she worked her thang and made the crowd move. As is usually the case, I stayed out too late (and honestly for no good reason – which I need to stop doing) and am paying for it today. That being said, it was great to see Beth again, particularly as up close and personal as I was able to get thanks to a friend’s press pass plus one I was able to get in on.

I love this picture because of the look of complete joy on the guy’s face:

Listen Up: Katy B x Geeneus x Jessie Ware – “Aaliyah”

Katy B Jessie Ware and Iggy AzaleaKaty B & Jessie Ware are pretty much needed in my ears at all times lately. They’ve got seductive swag that flows so nicely on top of beats on beats on beats. Press play & repeat on this “Aaliyah” track and if you’re in the UK you can also download Katy B’s entire Danger EP (featuring Jessie as well as Iggy Azalea, Diplo, Geeneus, Jacques Greene, Zinc and Wiley)for free at her site. Unfortunately, us yankees will need to find other ways to enjoy the jams.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Mosquito” Full Album Preview!

Thank you Noisey and thank you Karen O, Nick Zinner and Brian Chase (looking a bit like John Lennon meets Devendra Banhart from a few years ago). I haven’t been this excited for a new album to drop since I can’t even remember.
