Graph Rabbit Releases Album & Video Just In Time For Fall

Graph Rabbit

The first show I went to as an official New Yorker was Graph Rabbit at the Bowery Electric. The venue was dim and intimate with enough people heading in late that I was able to get to the front of the stage.

Austin Donohue’s voice is like a crisp, folky version of Thom Yorke – which I think you’ll be able to hear in “Make It Stop”. I have no clue how he and his analog synth playing bandmate, Shy Kedmi, (who in person bears a little bit of a Fred Armisten resemblance) were able to get through the video without cracking up during their staring competition.

Snowblind is up on iTunes ready for downloading now.

Sharon Van Etten Makes a Surprisingly Hot Pilgrim

Sharon Van Etten Pilgrim

If you know me at all you know of my obsession with Sharon Van Etten and her music. She just released a music video for “Magic Chords”, a song off of her ridiculously great Tramp album which came out this past February.

The video is, well, a bit artsy fartsy in a Henrik Ibsen, Deliverance, naked lifeless bodies sort of way. Not everyone can rock a pilgrim-esque look but Van Etten doesn’t do too badly.

Mykki Blanco Brings Dragalicious Realness With “Wavvy” Video

Mykki Blanco

Not only is “Wavvy” a JAAAAM primed to make you sweat on the dance floor, but the companion video is hot like fire both cinematically and conceptually. Mykki Blanco is as rough and gruff as a rapper comes, but this bitch is so fierce he can do it in some drag. The video’s director, Franceso Carrozzini, deserves three snaps up in z formation. Enjoy – and thanks to Jess from Terrorbird for the head’s up.

Ellie Goulding Covers Active Child & I Still Just Can’t Keep Hanging On

Active Child’s “Hanging On” has been on constant repeat in my ears as of late – and with the chill of fall starting to settle in, I’m pretty sure its position at the top of my playlist won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. It seems as though Ellie Goulding is a fan as well and with the help of Tinie Tempah, the two put out an equally icy cover.

Ellie’s new album, Halcyon, is out today, which you can stream below on Spotify.
