listen: “you (ha ha ha)” – charli xcx

Can’t agree enough that there was much too little Charli XCX to be had in 2012. Hopefully 2013 steps it up a notch.

charli xcx you

We did not get enough Charli XCX in 2012.  Sure, there were a few mixtapes and a video featuring little goth girls, but that is simply not enough.

Her debut album is set to be released this year, but with no set date (sources say “February”), we might be waiting for a while for that.  In the meantime, she’s got a new track that she premiered on Radio 1 called “You (Ha Ha Ha).”  And yes, “ha ha ha” is an actual lyric.

Nicely done DFA Records – you have reeled me in and now I have to check out Factory Floor’s entire catalogue.

Robots Don’t Sleep (They’re Probably Too Busy Getting Busy)

Robots Don't Sleep

After coming up with the title for this post I immediately had a mental flash pairing the sexy, down-tempo electronic seduction that is Robots Don’t Sleep’s jam, “So Bad (Synkro Vocal Mix)”, with the lesbionic, masturbatory brilliance of Bjork’s “All Is Full Of Love” robots.

Apparently I may need to “get some” in this new year. Thankfully I’ve got tunes like this and the full-length debut from Rhye to help me take it slow and low. (via: Yours Truly)

MNDR “Feed Me Diamonds” ft. Raven

Raven MNDR video

The quickest way to get me to watch a music video is to pair a song from an artist like MNDR with the body of a former Rupaul’s Drag Race contestant.

Jack Beats “About To Get Fresh” Ft. Chiddy Bang and OV

No one can accuse the Jack Beats kids of false advertising with this banger. “About To Get Fresh” will bob your noggin’ if not fully make that ass shake. I’m loving the Afrika Bambaataaesque whammy-style vocals peppered in here. Their EP, Somebody to Love, just dropped so check out the rest of the tunes over at Beatport.
