Flo had me at hello, but while doing a private performance at Radio 1, she revealed her love of Jamie xx, Drake and Rihanna just before covering the song all three of them collaborated on, “Take Care”. A huge thank you to my friend @brighieb for sending this video to me last night. I can’t stop watching it – it’s making me the happiest person who is just getting over a migraine ever. First of all, her dancing = ACES. Her choice of sidekick = don’t let that bitch outshine you girl! You know how to pick them. Her singing: Fresh to death! The final “Superbass” = includes a neck twist, finger snap and hip movement = Perfection. All of this wrapped up in a tutu with a British accent.
For those of you who don’t know me very well, I can tell you with certainty, that this little girl (minus anything girly and minus the adorable accent) was me when I was that age. Substitute in a bowl cut, some terrible Panama Jack boy shorts complete with matching button down and the entire Beastie Boys “License to Ill” album, and she and I are twinsies from different generations.
This cover has made me lose me mind it is so damn good.
There are a few things I’m left wondering while watching this video – first of all, where did she find that amazing t-shirt? I need that in my t-shirt drawer and I need it now. Secondly, maybe more importantly, does anyone else think her two teeth look strategically placed? Thirdly, did she take air guitar lessons? Bitch can crank that shit!
If you wait til the very end, you’ll notice she has really impressive range.
Sorry everyone else who does covers in 2011, I’ve already found someone you can’t top. First of all, A+++++++++++++ for song choice. Secondly, are you fucking kidding me with this? She CAN SING. Like, I want to dance backup in this little girl’s band. Is it sad that I’m jealous of her and she’s like, what, four or five years old?
