Beth Ditto at XL Bar

Last night, Beth Ditto brought her ferocious soul-punk voice to XL Bar in Hell’s Kitchen and while the set was a short one, she worked her thang and made the crowd move. As is usually the case, I stayed out too late (and honestly for no good reason – which I need to stop doing) and am paying for it today. That being said, it was great to see Beth again, particularly as up close and personal as I was able to get thanks to a friend’s press pass plus one I was able to get in on.

Somebody please remind me to put this video in my time capsule of favorite things. I want to be just like Oprah but my favorite things will be much more fun (or at least the things I share with the general public will be).

If I ever have children, which…eeeeeh, I’m going to have to move to England so I can have them say things with these adorable accents.

Irina Werning Back to the Future

I could stare at Irina Werning’s past-meets-present photo essays forever. Her attention to detail is outstanding and her ability to bring her subjects back to a very specific moment in time and capture it on film is like nothing else I’ve ever seen.

Feist’s new video for her song, “Bittersweet Melodies”, uses Irina’s photo essay along with a small amount of behind the scenes video footage from some of Irina’s shoots.
